Surrounded by coral reefs, Barbados is a unique travel destination. Its geography is perfect for the amateur to experienced diver, and tourism thrives on the picturesque island. Known for its natural beauty and industry, Barbados hosts numerous golf festivals throughout the year, as well as offers a vast array of shopping opportunities, wildlife reserves, sandy beaches, and nightlife spots. Barbados is perfect for honeymoon destinations whether you are looking for the hustle and bustle of a city like Bridgetown or the seclusion of a private beach.
Barbados has a sub-tropical climate with temperatures ranging between 80-85 degrees. The rainy season is from June-November. We recommend the optimum month to go be December-March because of the clear days, cool nights, and the best temperature. Even though June-November is considered the rainy season, Barbados has a unique geographic location in that it avoids a majority of the tropical storms and hurricanes that tend to sweep the Caribbean during that time. The rainy season typically only sees minor rainfall.
Brownell recommends that you arrive at least one day early. Because there are limited flights into the island, it is risky to fly on the day your cruise ship leaves. It is no fun playing catch-up on the first day of your vacation!
Barbados has recently been awarded UNESCO heritage status, and there is an abundance of history on the island. Your Brownell advisor can arrange custom tours of many historical sites, including plantation homes not usually open to the public. We can also arrange for a tour of the island from the water aboard a catamaran. There are also several fabulous golf courses on the island, and your Brownell advisor can set up tee times on your behalf.
